Meet My Palm Pre

A Facebook ad inviting me to “Meet my Palm Pre” recently caught my attention. I clicked the ad and was brought to a profile with 802 “fans” and a wall filled with comments, opinions and questions about the device’s capabilities and availability in Canada. On August 27th the Palm Pre was launched in Canada, available on Bell’s wireless network.  The Canadian Palm Pre marketing campaign invites people to follow “Bradley the Canada Pre guy” as he “introduces the new Palm Pre phone to Canada, one person at a time.”

The facebook profile features 7 photo albums (photos taken with the Pre of course) showing Bradley and the Pre on the streets of Toronto a few days before the official launch, going to the barber, the spa, and even a roller derby game.

4 short “Meet My Palm Pre” video webisodes have also been produced so far, and can be seen on facebook, youtube and a variety of other sites. Whether you think these videos are funny or annoying, the point is that people are watching them. So far this viral marketing campaign has generated thousands of views of these webisodes in which Bradley uses Google Maps to get around, looks up stuff on Wikipedia, tweets, uploads stuff to facebook, and lets ordinary people on the streets try out the device.
