For many years Brazil has been considered as a key market with great potential for WiMAX. This is particularly true given it has one of the highest populations in Latin America ¾ 192 million at the end of December 2007. Brazil also has the third highest GDP per capita after Chile and Mexico at $US 5,666, yet one of the lowest levels of broadband penetration at 4.2% (Source: ITU Indicators).
