November 2007: Press Release |
Commercial WiMAX deployments expected to increase 70-80% in 2008
Maravedis' Second Edition of WiMAXCounts Quarterly Report reveals significant revenue increase for WiMAX
MONTREAL, Canada, November 6, 2007 –Maravedis (www.maravedis-bwa.com), the leading BWA/WiMAX research and analysis firm, today released the second issue of its WiMAXCounts Quarterly Report, a complement to Maravedis’ unique WiMAXCounts Operator Tracking Service launched in May 2007. It reveals that the WiMAX global subscriber base increased by 50% in the third quarter, reaching a total of 1,369,000 subscribers generating revenue of US$668 million for the first three quarters of this year.
WiMAXCounts is now in a strong position to monitor the early ramp in deployments and subscriber growth on an ongoing basis. “We expect the introduction of major network deployments for mobile WiMAX, combined with lower CPE pricing, to accelerate subscriber growth in 2008 and contribute to a 70-80% yearly increase in commercial deployment,” said Adlane Fellah, CEO and founder of Maravedis Inc. “Many operators have slowed down their network expansion plans to synchronize their commercial deployment with WiMAX 802.16e equipment certification beginning next year. Mobile WiMAX will enable them to offer more flexibility and value-added service.”
Distributed quarterly by email to WiMAXCounts subscribers, the WiMAXCounts Quarterly Report provides an executive summary of key information found and analyzed by the Maravedis WiMAXCounts team. “Our team has added Middle East and Africa WiMAX operators to the service. We continue ongoing discussions with operators to constantly upgrade WiMAXCounts according to our subscriber needs, giving them access to the most accurate information on applications, service offerings, ARPU, pricing, and target markets,” said Julien Regoli, COO at Maravedis.
